Valley of the Queens

The Valley of the Queens is located in the West Bank of Luxor, ancient Thebes. The Valley of the Queens is situated near the Valley of the Kings. Not only queens were buried here but also Princesses, Princes and even some of the nobility. Some of the wives of Ramses II are buried here.
There are 95 tombs in this valley and belonging to the nobility of the 18th, 19th and 20th Dynasties. However, not all of the individuals are known in these tombs, as some of the evidence which would enable us to identify them is no longer present.
In ancient times the Valley of the Queens was known as Ta-Set-Neferu, meaning the place of beauty, seat of beauty or place or perfection.
